Privacy policy

This policy explains how Solar N Battery Co handles personal information. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We collect only what we need to quote and carry out solar and battery work:

• Contact details — name, email address, phone number.
• Property details — address, suburb and postcode, property type, roof type.
• Energy information — approximate quarterly bill, existing solar, and any bill or meter details you choose to send us.
• Correspondence — the content of enquiries, emails and calls.
• Technical data — the page an enquiry came from and basic analytics. See Cookies and analytics.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we do not ask for it. Please do not send us financial account details by email.

Why we collect it

• To prepare and send you a quote.
• To design, install and commission a system, including a site assessment.
• To lodge grid connection and export approval applications with your electricity distributor.
• To create and assign small-scale technology certificates (STCs) where you have authorised us to.
• To meet our obligations under Australian Consumer Law, electrical safety law and tax law.
• To respond to service, warranty and maintenance requests.

If you submit a quote request, we will contact you about that enquiry. We do not add you to a marketing list without your consent, and any marketing we do send will have a working unsubscribe.

Who we disclose it to

We share personal information only where it is necessary to do the job:

• Your electricity distributor (for example Jemena, Powercor, AusNet or United Energy) for pre-approval and export approval.
• Your electricity retailer where a meter change is required.
• Accredited installers and electricians engaged to carry out your installation.
• STC agents and the Clean Energy Regulator where certificates are assigned.
• Service providers who host our website and deliver our email.
• Government bodies where we are required by law to do so.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not sell or trade leads to other installers.

Overseas disclosure

Our website hosting and email delivery providers may store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how pages are used. It sets cookies and collects a truncated IP address, pages visited and approximate location. It does not tell us who you are. You can block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on without losing access to any part of the site. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Storage and security

Enquiries are held in our business email account and our quoting records. Access is limited to people who need it to do their job. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

How long we keep it

Quote enquiries that do not proceed are kept for retention period to confirm and then deleted. Records relating to completed installations are kept for at least seven years, as required for tax, warranty and electrical compliance purposes.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email infosolarnbatteryco@gmail.com or call 0494 321 664. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at infosolarnbatteryco@gmail.com and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
